The People: Daniel and Rachel Graham

Daniel attended Oregon State University and received a B.S. in Animal Sciences in 2005 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.  He then went on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in International Animal Health from the University of Edinburgh in 2010.  He practiced as a small animal veterinarian in Oregon City before they moved to Uganda.

Rachel earned her B.S. in Business Administration from Warner Pacific College in 2007.  She has worked in non-profit administration for many years and served with Christian Missionary Fellowship in Mexico City, Mexico (2009-2010).

Daniel and Rachel moved to Soroti, Uganda in 2012 and serve there with Christian Veterinary Mission.  Their son, Nathan, joined their family in 2014.

The Project: His  Very Own

Picture3In an effort to live as and also support people that Jesus describes as “his very own” (Titus 2:14), the Grahams serve in partnership with their local church. Through discipleship and community engagement, Daniel and Rachel desire to encourage and equip the church to reach out to their own community and nation.  Daniel is involved in several veterinary projects within Soroti where he teaches livestock production skills at a demonstration farm and also pursues his interest in public health. He also regularly serves in the Batwa communities of SW Uganda where he promotes nutrition through rabbit revolving loans.

Daniel and Rachel are currently partnered with their local church, Calvary Chapel Soroti. Joining the church as it was being planted in August 2013, they are excited to be able to participate in a national church with a strong foundation in Biblical truths. They have served in teaching and leadership roles from the very beginning of the church. Daniel took on the role of Missions and Discipleship Coordinator  in 2016 and is the administrator for the church’s School of Ministry which opened in 2017. Rachel serves diligently in the children’s ministry and they are both involved in individual and group discipleship within the church fellowship.

Daniel and Rachel can’t do this alone, please consider how you can partner with them as they serve the community of Soroti and beyond. Foremost, your prayers are always needed to support this ministry. Please also consider if God is giving you the opportunity to participate through financial partnership.

As an example of some of the work that we do, here is a short video from CVM that briefly describes how we have implemented our livestock revolving loan projects in Batwa communities:

The Partners

In addition to all of the individual partners who are committed to working with and supporting Daniel and Rachel as they serve in Uganda, the following churches are also committed to the work they are doing:

What a great little video! Very informative. My husband and I serve in Cameroon. I found your blog while googling community development, which we’re starting to be involved with in this country (our mission has done lots in other countries, but due to wars we’ve had to leave those countries). Anyhow, just wanted to give you a little encouragement today. Lord bless your ministry. THANK you for your part in living Jesus’ love.

Thank you for the encouragement. It’s always wonderful to hear from people who are out serving. How long have you been in Cameroon? Thank you also for being His hands and feet. Sincerely, Rachel
